This was my contribution to a Thanksgiving family tradition involving the drawing of turkey hands, but instead of using colored pencils to make my hand look like a cartoonish turkey I filled in the outline with pieces of wire that I found on the lakefront near an old demolished steel mill. The title of this piece was inspired by one of my favorite guitar recordings, called "The Great Big God of Hands" by James Elkington and Nathan Salsburg. They themselves borrowed that title from an old spiritual by Nimrod Workman called "The Great Big Hand of God."
