Never before had I encountered so many different bird feathers in a single day. As I walked along I took photos of them to share with a birder friend who quickly identified them: blue jay, northern flicker, oriole, duck and several types of woodpeckers. I'd stumbled into a migration path. Feathers are not easy to capture in a photograph, at least not for me, so I used all of the other items I'd gathered up that day to provide backdrops and support for the feathers.
